There's no doubt that Jeremy Lipking is a living legend, but he might tell you otherwise. This modest, 40-something artist has single-handedly revived naturalism. He gives new meaning to the term, with his fresh, moving take on realistic paintings. Lipking was born on November 2, 1975 in Santa Monica, California.

Lipking's dad--illustrator Ron Lipking--shared his love of art with his son at an early age. Jeremy spent countless hours in his dad's studio, learning to draw and exploring his creativity. Art became second nature. Eventually, Lipking honed his skills at the California Art Institute. In his early 20s, Lipking knew that art was more than a hobby--he wanted to make it his career. He gathered his best pieces (and his courage) and set out to sell his work in a tasteful gallery. Much to his surprise, his work began to sell--he was a real artist!

Jeremy is inspired by painters from the 19th century naturalist movement. He loves the alluring air of mystery behind realistic paintings--pieces that draw you in and appear so lifelike that you begin to wonder about the subject. You imagine the story that goes beyond the painting, and that is exactly the emotion he attempts to evoke with his own pieces.

Lipking enjoys the challenges of painting the human figure. He is also moved by the beauty and liveliness of the outdoors. Many of his pieces combine the human figure and a dazzling landscape into one single work of art. Lipking often takes photos of his subjects and then analyzes them closely in his studio before he begins his work. He begins by sketching large abstract shapes to create the perfect composition. Then he creates the tone of the painting with large brushes of color.

He continues to build on top of this base, layer after layer, adding more definition with each pass. The finished product is a realistic painting with incredible texture and loose brushwork that creates movement and a lifelike tone. Jeremy Lipking is one of the most influential painters in today's art industry. The way he combines sharp details with soft, undefined spaces makes his paintings look so realistic, you might mistake them for a photo. It's clear that Lipking has a passion for the outdoors and his family--his best pieces include his wife or daughter in a beautiful natural setting.
